Last Friday morning my mom drove from her house in Lubbock, Texas to ours and made it in 7 long hours (it only takes me 6 hours:). She almost ran out of gas, but I'm glad she made it! Mom hasn't seen our house or land in Oklahoma since we bought it several months ago and I was really excited to show her the transformation.

Yes, we have a deer blind and no, we don't hunt the poor deer. We see all kinds of wildlife on the farm. Josh has seen tons of Turkeys and I have seen quite a few horse sized deer!

It was so much fun to have mom visit. She is such a giver, and just organized my entire kitchen and helped Josh organize the garage so that we can finally walk around in it all! It was such a fun weekend and I'm thankful for such a great momma.

October 20, 2010

I just felt the need to post. I have two sessions this weekend and my momma is coming to visit me for the first time since I've moved. OSU's homecoming is Saturday and I hear it is the largest homecoming in the world!! I'm sure I will have more to say soon...

Oh Lauren...I am so jealous of you! I want to b out on land and live the simple life...farming and homeschooling my girls. But alas...I have to work. I just love your new blog! Now I know why my garlic did not grow when I planted it in March this year! I will plant some more tonight!

Jessica Canaday:

Madly in love with this! People laugh when I tell them I'm an agricultural communications major..."what do you learn to do, talk to cows?" they always ask me. But the truth is i love all things "media", i believe in agriculuture and rural communities, and i want to help sustain agricultural lifestyles by commuicating all the wonderful blessings the simple life brings. so i love this blog! bravo!

Love this thought and really it's what we've been doing since we got married. I love going out to the farm and learning how to can and preserve all of the wonderful produce. I love sending jars home with everyone I know to enjoy FRESH stuff. And I love never going back to store bought things like applesauce. It is so much better when you make it yourself. Thanks for sharing I'll add to my favorites! gw

This is too coincidental! We've been talking about buying some land and trying to move this direction as well! In fact, I was up until about 1 this morning scoping out UnitedCountry.com and drooling over mountain land in Eastern Oklahoma. =) Good on ya!

Meet my nephew, River Justice. I have actually only photographed him once before, isn't that sad? I need to schedule a session for each of my little nieces and nephews once a year from now on... ok. River is much different than his older brother, Jonah, he is the strong silent type, just like his Uncle Josh (my husband:). I love my little River.

This was supposed to be a hot air balloon setup, but it didn't really work out like I had planned:)
