We are finally finished with the house! Josh put on the last 4 cabinets a few days ago and I can now say that our house (besides the laundry room) has been completely remodeled. He saved the kitchen for last since it would need the most work and as he was putting in the second to last tile on the floor we found out we were expecting a baby! It will be a busy room as long as we live there!

Josh replaced almost everything in the kitchen: new tile, new dishwasher, sink, plumbing, countertops, window, oven, backsplash, paint, mud and tape, ceiling texture, and trim. He worked so hard on making it perfect and now I just wish that I could sit in front of that perfect sink window watching the cardinals and squirrels while I eat ice cream all day.

Here are the before photos...

October 26, 2010

The kitchen is almost complete! All that Josh lacks is the cabinet doors and the house will be FINISHED! I never thought this day would come! We have spent around $10,000 on the remodel and with Josh and his dad doing all of the work we are sure to have raised the value of the house by about $20-$30k! Hopefully, maybe we will have it appraised just to find out.

t1.jpg
So this was the color I picked for the kitchen and it just wasn't going to work, so we went back to Lowe's and picked a more neutral color from the backsplash colors...

And here is the living room completely finished!

And here is the family tree wall that is finally complete in the farm room (guest room)

Congrats! You did great!
I love how you displayed your photos in your living space. In the frames on the leftside - what size are those prints? I was guessing 8 x 10. I'm also curious what size the large print is on the top shelf. Sometimes it is difficult to know how they will come out.

Below is the dining area with cool IKEA light. We will be painting the kitchen a buttery yellow at the end of this week!

Did you have the stuff shipped from Ikea? Bryan and I are looking at some of their free standing cabinets....but not sure about ordering them online. Wish we were closer than 7 hours from the Chicago store. Just wanted your thoughts on their kitchen products!

(10.06.10 @ 12:34 PM)
Lauren:

Grace, the cabinets are actually the same ones that came with the house. We just put new butcher block countertops, new sink and painted the cabinets white. We drove down to Dallas with a truck to get everything:)

London says "hello"
10989.jpg

Well I don't have any great photos to show you a before and after with since Josh has just started on the kitchen demo, but I did want to document the phases of it all! I will be headed to teach the amazing Love Affair Workshop this coming Saturday and Josh will probably have the kitchen looking a ton better than it does today. I can't wait to see it a week from now.

I also wanted to show you the progress on my family tree wall. I went to garage sales and bought $1 frames, spray painted them and put old photos of our family in them. It is looking so good!
