First taste of quinoa, he liked it...

BIRDS! They were climbing all over him at the Zoo.

Then he fell asleep in the Ergo with his hand straight up towards my face, it was sweet.

Happy 8 month birthday baby Solomon. You are crawling, saying "Dadda" and "Mamma" and are such an EASY, perfect baby. We love you.

February 28, 2012

I have officially survived another winter. I know, it's not quite over yet, but this last year has been one of the most relaxing, least photo shoots ever kind of year and I have loved it! I think this is why God made the "sabbath", you work 6 days and you rest one. I am in my seventh year in business right now and am loving how this is almost my "year off", because I worked myself into the ground for those first six years and started resenting photography, but now I'm super excited about it again! I have a few sessions this weekend and weddings are starting to book again and so don't drop me from your bookmarks just yet... I'm making a small comeback!

It seems like all I've done this month is bake, read and sneeze. We have been sick non-stop all February long, it just keeps relapsing and because of this I have hardly taken any photos of my sweetheart Solomon. Well today he is 8 months old! I can hardly believe it. I think I'm going to take him out in the sunshine today and take his photos.

I just thought I needed to make some sort of update because I haven't blogged in... forever!

This has been a sad month and I'm really looking forward to next month and the coming of Spring! I haven't even taken any photos or videos of Solomon this month besides tonight, that's not very good! I need to step it up now that he's crawling and getting so much bigger and start making more memories with him before he is a year old! He has his bottom two teeth and is finally starting to find out how to get us wrapped around his finger with his crying. He cries until we pick him up or feed him now, before this he was always happy as a lark and didn't cry. Little booger!

Hi Lauren, your little boy is adorable. My son was born on 6-24-2011, a few days before yours, so it has been fun seeing your little man grow along side mine. The whole crying thing must be a stage because Canaan has been the same way. He knows how to get our attention and he uses that cry for everything. Enjoy your sweet boy! Like you said, they grow so fast.

Just curious if you used a flash on these since they were done indoors or if it's all natural light? Great Pics!

I finally got all of my cameras and lenses back in and wanted to test out the focusing and I think it is a little bit better! Thank you Canon! Here is a test shot of Solomon's front two teeth.

February 16, 2012

londy2.jpgWe bought London as a six week old puppy in Lubbock. She was gorgeous, playful and potty trained within a few days. She was the light of my life there for a while. If you have followed my blog for a while then you remember when she almost died and she was diagnosed with Addison's Disease. She went into a crisis two days ago and we were force feeding her the medicine that she needed, but she wasn't getting any better. Last night we had decided to put her down today to put her out of her misery and when Josh went in to let them out she had already died. Poor baby. We love our dogs so much. The sad thing is, Josh let her outside last night while I was at home group and she got up real excited and then went and laid down under a wet tree outside, just like on Marley and Me. It is a sad day around here. This is my first dog to loose as an adult and I am selfishly thankful that she died in the night with Meridian next to her instead of me having to take her life for her at the vet this morning. The more you love, the harder the loss. London was my favorite.

This made me cry. I am so so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a dog that should have had many more years to live. Absolutely heartbreaking.

Prayers for you and your family!! I have been there and it hurts so bad to lose such a sweet member of the family. Thankfully, God really helps take away the hurt and sadness. One great thing about being a photographer is you have so many sweet photos to cherish of all the good times!

I am so sorry! My hubby and I got our first dog as a wedding present to each other and she passed away after 12 years. Your story made me cry...but at least you know she will meet you again in heaven someday and is out of pain! It is that unconditional love of a dog that makes them mean so much to us!

Lauren, I'm sorry to hear about your loss of London. I have been following your blog for the past 6 years and know how much she meant to you guys. I know how hard it is to drive your beloved dog to the vet to have them put down, as I had to put down my Shyner of 14 years a while back. I am so glad that she was with you guys and she knows how much you love her. May her pictures and her memories be held close.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss Lauren. I have always remembered when your puppy was diagnosed with Addison's disease, because it was about the same time they diagnosed my mother with the same disease. Hang in there!

I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet baby, London. My heart goes out to you. I know how it feels to love a dog so much that it hurts to even think about losing them or thinking someone else going through the same thing.
