Davina and Millie were telling me about a book called The Artist Way by Julia Cameron last week and I decided that it sounded fun to go through a book that led you through a creative journey. A few of the things I have been doing this week are journaling three pages per day and having an Artist Date (taking yourself on a creativity date by yourself). My first artist date was last night when I bought a bottle of glue and two newspapers.

I bought a white plaster deer head last fall and just knew that I would use it in my house to decorate. Well I couldn't quite find a place for it and wanted to jazz it up a bit, and I remembered paper mache! My aunt Patti (who I have discovered through the first chapter of this book was my main creative influence from 5-10 years of age, THANK YOU PATTI!) used to let us paper mache balloons and make pinatas out of them and this seemed like the perfect way to decorate my deer head. I sat bent over my deer head for three hours last night making it look perfect and now it has a perfect place to be hung... in my bedroom!

That's awesome that you started artists way. I picked up the book the day after I arrived home from Dallas and am so excited to get started. Katie and I are going to skype or telephone once a week to share our experiences. Would love for you to join us...

I read The Artists Way a couple of years ago and I have tried several times to find like-minded people to do a workshop or somehow incorporate the teachings of the book into "real life". I was working the "morning pages" for a while, but have gotten away. I would LOVE to follow the program (if that's the word for it) again. I live in the Philadelphia area. Is there a chance anybody would like to talk about this? If so, please email me at otherword@comcast.net. Tori
