Aleene is my great aunt's name and my mother's middle name. Last winter my step-dad, Tim, bought 40 acres on the west side of Lubbock to put his horses on. The land was... well, let's be honest... a dump. Since Tim bought the farm he has hauled off over 20,000 pounds of trash, mowed down 4 ft tall weeds, is in the process of redoing an old farmhouse and making horse stables. Tim is a visionary, even more than myself. He saw this REALLY dumpy property and is turning it into something that people are starting to admire. My mom was telling me this afternoon that the neighbors are so glad that this eyesore is finally being taken care of that they give Tim a thumbs up when they drive by.
My mom, Nina, with Snoopin and Barney.
I was trying to help mom learn how to train the horses in the round pen:) It was a fun afternoon at the farm with mom and Tim. I haven't ever photographed my mom so much and she really didn't like it, but they are so lovely of her.

Yes, they are drinking out of a buried hot tub. Tim is the king of recycling and going green!
