The Berlin Family | Lake Travis Sailing Adventure|Lakeway Family Photographer

I have always been a water girl. Send me to the ocean, river, pool, or a lake and I am FILLED to the brim.

Last night I got to fulfill a dream session as I photographed the Berlin family on the sailboat their dad grew up sailing in on Lake Michigan. He had the boat shipped to Lake Travis this summer and I was so excited to get to photograph his family on it with him.

Duncan, his girlfriend Jenn, and his brother took us around the middle of the lake and it was so great to be able to tell them which direction that I wanted the boat facing for every shot. As Duncan said, “I control the sun”. That was a plus!

Do you ever feel like when you are doing something that you love you just get into this genius place? That’s how I felt tonight while shooting this session. Give me water, new friends and adventure and my creativity just starts clicking!

Duncan’s kids were gorgeous and were really fun to work with on this shoot. Tomorrow is their first day of virtual learning and I was thankful that they chose to do the photoshoot with me before their big day!

Duncan, Jenn and Bo- thank you for the incredible evening on the water in your amazing boat!

And thank you, Bo, for the behind the scenes photos of me risking it all for the foot shot!

If you are interested in a Lake Travis adventure family shoot on your boat then contact me for information. I LOVE the water and meeting new people!

Blanco State Park

Last week we zipped down to Blanco State Park to swim with the cousins. We LOVE new swimming holes and wanted to use our Texas State Park pass to get us in for free to another amazing place.

This was a neat man made pool along the Blanco River. It had a very shallow area for younger kids to play, a 4 foot deep pool to canon ball into from the dam and a deeper side to float around in inner tubes.

The moss is VERY slick in the shallow areas and the kids were slipping and sliding everywhere. I thought I could handle it and eventually slipped and fell into the water while holding my camera and phone- oops! Thankfully they both still worked after I dried them off.

There were minnows and fish everywhere in the shallow area and the kids loved playing under the waterfall and snorkeling around the rocks.

The main thing that really creeped us out was the baby leeches. Yes, LEECHES! Apparently when the rivers get really warm in August the leaches thrive and the black algae looking stuff in the photo above is 100% baby leeches attaching themselves to the sides. We did not learn this until after this photo was taken- YIKES!

We may try this park out again earlier next year before the water is warmer, but it was a nice place to picnic, relax and swim.

The Dutton Family | Dripping Springs Family Photographer

God had a plan when we moved into our new house. Two days after moving in we met our neighbors, the Duttons, and my kids fell instantly in love with their kids. They started passing walkee-talkees and running back and forth between our living rooms to watch shows and play with new toys.

Bekah and I met in the driveway after our kids met and arranged a bike ride to the local coffee shop, Mazama Coffee. It felt like we had been friends for years as we herded our 6 children on bikes through the paths and streets to downtown Dripping Springs only moments after meeting for the first time.

I kept laughing about it, like who does this on the first meeting?

I was so excited to get to do their family photos with their horses on their new property. This family is so kind and gorgeous! I couldn’t stop editing these and ended up with over 250 in their final gallery. WOW!

Dripping Springs doesn’t disappoint when it comes to that hazy light and the rolling hills of trees and beautiful grass. I am excited about all of the wonderful people and places that I will get to photograph this fall!

Cici and Tyler | Cotton Creek Barn | Lubbock Photographer

When my son first started public school three years ago I was pretty nervous. Would he make good friends? Would he be ok without me all day? Had I done an ok job preparing him to learn? We started him at Cooper West in Lubbock and Cici Richardson was his Kindergarten teacher.

Within weeks he was excelling and learning under her care. She was always a vibrant, energetic and incredibly talented teacher. We lucked out when our second son, Silas, got put in her class last year and he also began climbing the learning ladder under her leadership.

We just couldn’t say enough good things about Ms. R. I was so excited to get to do her and Tyler’s photos at Cotton Creek Barn in New Home a week before we moved from Lubbock. These two have been together for a year and are just so much fun together.

Cici brought her adopted pup, Belle, for the photos and this is the funniest shot I got of her!

Thank you, Cici, for teaching my boys how to read and love learning! You are the best!

The Noles Family | Lubbock Family Photographer

I just love this family! I photographed Michaela and Kirk’s wedding at the LHUCA downtown Lubbock when I was 4 weeks postpartum with my second son. Their wedding was the first wedding where I cried during the vows (ok, that could have been pp hormones, but still!) and I remember just loving the energy between these two.

Kirk owns and runs Every Mans Work Digital in Lubbock and has such a magnetic personality. Michaela is equally amazing and is just so kind and genuine. I’ve loved bumping into them at other weddings and around town and was excited when they called me to photograph their young family downtown right before we moved from Lubbock to Dripping Springs.

Their daughters are just as vibrant and fun as their parents and I had the best time wondering around the more colorful areas of downtown Lubbock with them.

Thank you two for hiring me to be your photographer! I love yall!

Emma and Jonathan Fish | The Grand Texana | Brenham Wedding Photographer

Last weekend I drove straight down highway 290 from Dripping Springs and arrived at the incredible historic dairy barn event venue in Brenham, Texas- The Grand Texana. My second cousin, Emma, was getting married to Jonathan Fish and this wedding was so special to me!

Our grandparents owned the Bodine Brother’s Dairy in Colorado City, Texas and I grew up sneaking into that barn and searching for treasures from times past. My grandad was the last dairyman in Texas to deliver milk to your door and my mom would tell me stories of working there as the delivery girl and leaving the glass cartons on her friends’ front porches.

I loved that Emma chose this venue for her wedding as a reminder of our family’s heritage.

The details at Emma’s wedding were fabulous! She had a very specific vision for her reception and did it all herself!

Emma and her sister were the flower girls in my wedding 15 years ago and I was the flower girl in their mother’s wedding 28 years ago! I was so thankful to be a part of both of their big days as their wedding photographer.
