The Schurk Family | Austin Family Photographer

Last week I went to Northwest Austin to meet the Schurk family at their community park for family photos. When I pulled down into the parking lot I could see why this is a private park- WOW! It was gorgeous!

They have three girls under the age of 3 and I was so thankful that their nanny came to help! We tag teamed and captured some magic in what would have otherwise just felt like a chaotic 45 minute session.

The middle of the park had an epic Oak that had a huge well of a hole in the center for the girls to stand in. I love this area and all of the massive trees!

Thank you, Kristi, for having me photograph your beautiful family!

Fortlandia

Last week we went with our neighbors to the Lady Bird Wildflower center to explore their annual fort building display called Fortlandia!

It is an installation of unique forts and climbing structures for kids to play on made by architects, builders and artists. It was such a warm day when we went, but the kids had a great time climbing, racing, building and swinging.

We highly recommend it as a fun place to let your kids roam and explore during the cooler months!

The Gonzalez Family | Commons Ford Ranch Family Photography

I had the pleasure of photographing one of the first families that we met when we moved to Dripping Springs several months ago, the Gonzalez family.

This family was so generous with their kindness and were such a welcoming group.

We went to Commons Ford park for their session and I was blown away by the beauty of this place! The old barn was picture perfect in the warm sunshine and the kids were just too cute for words!

Thank you, Raimey and Vince, for having me take your family photos!

Blair and Rowdy White | LuKacy’s Event Center Hemleigh, Tx

Last weekend I drove up to West Texas to photograph Blair and Rowdy’s wedding at LuKacy’s event center. These two are junior high sweethearts and it was so beautiful to see and hear about their love and romance from so many of the people attending.

I loved how much this wedding held the West Texas feel to it! West Texans are filled with devotion to family, sacrifice, hard work and faith- these values are so beautiful to witness!

The guys got ready in a huge RV and the heat was killer that day- up to 98 degrees… then their A/C units went out… I was happy to have been in the barn with the girls most of the day!

Blair’s mom, Carol, is also a photographer and it was an honor to be trusted with her daughter’s wedding photography!

Congratulations you two and I hope that you have a lifetime of happiness together!

Austin Bat Tour on Lady Bird Lake | Lone Star Boat Tours

Last weekend we scheduled a tour of Lady Bird Lake with Lone Star Boat Tours so that we could experience the Mexican free-tailed bats take flight from under the South Congress bridge!

There is something powerful and calming about being on the water and I loved being driven around and given a tour of downtown this way! The kids were pretty bored until we saw the bats, but once we did they were pumped!

The bats are living under the bridge from late March through October and there are millions of them! We could hear them chirping from a few hundred feet away.

There was a colony of Snowy Egrets perching near the bridge too and the boys loved learning more about this beautiful bird!

The bats come out from under the bridge and form a huge flying cluster near the tree line for protection. Our boat driver pulled right under the bridge in hopes to let us all get peed on… which we did… my kids were hiding under the plastic chairs like it was a tornado drill. He kept telling us it was five years good luck to get peed on by the bats… well I will have a lifetime of luck then!

It was quite a sight to see! Next time I will definitely rent a Swan paddle boat or kayak to experience this at sunset.

If you haven’t ever done this then I highly recommend it! It was a unique way to experience downtown Austin and learn more about the creatures that live here.

The Renfro Family | Lago Vista Family Photographer

Two weeks ago I met Dusty and Bundy Renfro at their marina in Lago Vista on the north shores of Lake Travis. These two excude generosity and kindness. From the moment Bundy had me hop on her golf cart and drove me down to their Formula powerboat I could tell that I would love this family.

They have two teenage sons and I loved getting to ask Bundy all of her boy mom parenting advice!

Dusty dropped me off at a dock so that I could get some photos from shore and then the boys met me to do some photos with their wake surf board in the rocks.

These zebra mussels are everywhere! Knox and Nash walked barefoot on these shells to make it out to the area I asked them to stand for their surf board photos. Thanks for taking the pain, boys!

Nash obliged me as I had him to backflip after backflip from the front of the boat so that I could try to get him in that sweet spot of the reflection in the water.

My nights out on Lake Travis photographing amazing families on their boats will never grow old! Thank you, Dusty and Bundy, for taking me on a tour of the lake and having me do your photos!

When I was 12 I began to write an autobiography that i titled,
