The Brown Family | Lubbock Family Photographer

Sarah contacted me a few weeks ago about coming to their country home and photographing a newborn lifestyle session for her family and their bookend baby, Ava.

I am not the best newborn photographer and usually send those inquiries to someone who specializes in newborn sessions, but I couldn’t turn this one down!

Sarah and Jeremy were one of my first weddings when I was getting more well known in the West Texas area for wedding photography over 13 years ago. I had just won a $5000 canvas giveaway at WPPI in Las Vegas (out of 10,000 people!) and blew up SO MANY of their engagement and bridal photos for my gallery. Their canvases were 4-5 feet tall and were EVERYWHERE in my office and my home hallway. I felt like I was in the big leagues when I finished their wedding because it was NEXT LEVEL gorgeous!

I have done the Brown’s family photos off and on for over a decade and after last night I felt this sad and strange feeling of not knowing what to say as I’m about to move away from Lubbock. I wanted to say something profound, maybe shed a little tear and give a not-so-social-distanced hug, but in true Enngeagram 7 form I just said “well, I’ll see ya’ll later!”.

Sarah and Jeremy, I am so honored to have been your photographer for the last 13 years and am so proud of who you are and what you stand for as a family.

Congratulations on the arrival of Ava Karoline!

Jackie and Trent | Lubbock Engagement Photographer

Jackie contacted me back in January about booking an engagement session for them. Then COVID hit and we were scrambling to reschedule due to restrictions, haircuts, surgeries, work and my back and forth schedule to Dripping Springs. BUT we finally got the session done last night and I couldn’t be more happy with how the timing all worked out! The lighting was beautiful, downtown was pretty deserted and this couple was smokin’!

These two have medical sales careers and love to travel!

I love when clients bring their pups to their sessions. It brings a whole new level of challenge and you all know I LOVE A GOOD CHALLENGE!! I pulled out my miracle trick for dogs and got them looking for that perfect family shot.

Thank ya’ll for sticking with me through all of those reschedules and I can’t wait for your December wedding in Dallas!

Bella | Dripping Springs Senior Photographer

The kids and I just returned from another week long trip down to Dripping Springs, Texas where we are planning to move this August.

My trips down there are starting to feel more like home as I get to know more of the people and the lay of the land. I even got to walk around downtown by myself (a rare occurrence now!) and explore all of the cute shops like Vintage Soul, Starrs on Mercer, Revel Wilde and the Mercer Street Art Gallery.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was getting to photograph my first senior in the area, Bella Sites! I went on a location scouting trip that afternoon before our session and found some of the most fun and unique spots in the town to take her.

Bella is an amazing girl. She loves volunteering with dog shelters, swimming and helping others.

She loves her two dogs, Nala and Moyo, and it was so fun to try to get them to cooperate for a few photos at the end on their beautiful property east of town.

I had such a wonderful time exploring with you, Bella! I hope your senior year is the best!

The Dahl Family | Austin Family Photographer

I had the pleasure of driving out to Webberville, Texas to photograph the Dahl family on Sunday night.

I first heard Seth’s name a few years ago when my pastor was telling me about his children’s curriculum and books. I did a quick Youtube search on him, watched the featured video that shared his testimony and then headed off to purchase all of the things he had published.

I was excited to dive into his family culture book called Arrows, but before I could read it our pesky dog, Raider, shredded the corners and ate off most of the words on the top pages. I was so frustrated because Raider, our GSP-Dane mix with severe separation anxiety, was averaging $50 a day in chew damage at that point. I sheepishly messaged Seth on his Instagram and he quickly replaced the book free of charge… and then he posted the photo of Raider on his Instagram.

I felt famous.

Well, doggie famous anyway.

My husband actually ran into Seth at a food truck in Austin two weeks ago, which was totally random! We had spent our January evenings watching Seth and Lauren’s e-course on their parenting book, Win-Win Parenting, and Josh recognized his three arrow tattoos on his arm when he was standing behind him at the BBQ place. It was quite the coincidence!

When I pulled up to their home outside of Austin I was really excited to meet them! They had a beautiful farm with chickens, 2 horses, 2 giant dogs, a kitten, bee hives and a dairy cow.

Lauren’s horse, Gus, was VERY friendly! He decided to come and see why on earth I was sitting down in his pasture with a giant camera bag and no treats!

The humidity began to drop on us like a wet blanket around 7:30 and we were sweating like crazy. I am not used to this level of water in the air! The kids were champs though and just kept playing for me.

August was quite the acrobat!

Lauren has the most interesting instagram stories where she explains everything from taking care of her farm animals, how to make butter from fresh milk and how to keep bees. She is pursuing creating a zero waste farm. Follow her IG here!

If you are looking for a wonderful practical book on parenting then I highly recommend the Dahl’s book Win-Win Parenting. I learned so many awesome tricks… and that “hassle time” has saved me a million empty threats!

This was their adorable kitten, Holly. She sure was loved!

Thank ya’ll for having me out to photograph your family! I loved meeting you all!

Ahhh… summertime

How cool is this? I learned how to make a moving GIF today and took some images at G-mom’s pool to create one of the cousins swimming together.

We are ALL about swimming in our family. For as long as I can remember I spent summers at the community pool next door to our house in Fort Stockton, Texas and in the stock tank at my Grandma’s farm. My favorite part of the community pool was buying the Fire Jolly Rancher sticks for a quarter, letting them melt in the hot West Texas sunshine and then twisting them into spirals before happily eating them.

My family would frequent Balmorhea, the Guadalupe River, California beaches, lakes and any other swimming place we could find. We would come home exhausted and sun-kissed and those are the same memories that I want to give to my kids.

My mom has a pool in her backyard and we frequent it several times a week from May-October.

We are headed to Jacob’s Well, Pedernales State Park and Wimberley’s Blue Hole this month.

Where are some of your favorite places to swim in Texas that we should check out?

Whitney and Travis Boyd |Eberley Brooks Events| Lubbock Wedding Photographer

Last night was my FIRST wedding back after the pandemic shut down the wedding industry (well…shut down the world is more like it). I was feeling a lot of anticipation as it had been over 5 months since my last wedding to photograph was mid December. I’ve spent the last 3 months of the pandemic diving into furthering my photography education online and was excited to put my new ideas into action.

She chose meaningful details throughout the day and I loved how she wore her great aunt’s pearls as a finishing touch to her wedding look.

Whitney and Travis chose Eberley Brooks Events’ Sage Chapel for its’ classic look. She loved the stained glass and the old white church feel that it was designed around.

Travis’ dad officiated the wedding. Wouldn’t that be such a special privilege?

Whitney was the youngest of all of the grandchildren and the last one of her immediate family to get married. She knew all of the bridal ways from seeing so many family members get married and even know the perfect “look longingly into the flowers” look. LOL!

This 115 year old stained glass was sourced from an old church in St. Elmo, IL. I just HAD to do a bridal silhouette in front of it! Isn’t it gorgeous??

Oh little Blakely. I couldn’t keep my camera from moving towards this adorable flower girl all day! She had SO much personality and I could make a whole book of photos just from her shenanigans and faces!

Whitney chose to have a quilt made to sign instead of using a paper guestbook. What a unique and timeless idea!

Like I said… LOVED this flower girl!!

I’m so glad that COVID-19 didn’t cancel this wedding… but you knew we would do a photo with the masks to remember this time.

Congratulations you two!!! Your wedding was so beautiful and I was honored to be your photographer!
