Silvas Family

I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable family last year while I was visiting in Lubbock and I was so excited to do their photos again! These kids were on their best behavior and were just picture perfect the entire session. The twins were so much fun and we really embraced the urban feel they were wanting for this session, their rocking’ mom gets a A+ for their outfits and styling!

This is my second time to photograph this beautiful family here in Lubbock, and it just keeps getting better and better! I was so excited when Joni pulled out this awesome canvas teepee and we trekked up a little, dusty hill and set up camp. I tried some new processing on these and am going to play around a little more before I decide if I’m going to make any big changes or not. What do you think? Should I stay the same or change?

Baby B

Baby Billy is about to turn a year old this week! We lived with Billy and his family this summer while we were transitioning to Missouri from Oklahoma and so you will be seeing a lot of this darling face, and that hair, on my blog in the future. I took my kids to Billy’s house this morning and let them roam while we spent a few hours feeding, playing, and rearranging furniture for this shoot. I think that we got some great shots!

Silas, 9 months

Today it was a balmy 57 degrees in the Kansas City area… quite a heat wave compared to what we have had lately, and so I got out with my monthly photo partner, Ashlee Tollett, and we photographed our kids. Let’s just say that this is getting harder and harder, our kids are not cooperating like they used to. I even pulled out the big guns and was bribing Solomon with candy and it didn’t work. He’s officially become immune to bribes for photos, sigh, I guess I will just have to get better at being a photojournalist.

Silas turned 9 months a few days ago and being the wonderful second child that he is, I decided that I had to get a photo of him, because I hardly ever do. I mean, who can resist this gorgeous face? I guess I regularly do, chalk it up to photographing other people so often that I hardly ever want to haul my camera around or set up shoots just for him. Poor guy, I need to schedule him in again. Solomon had fun with his best friend, Asher, until he kicked dirt and soot all over him while Ashlee was taking a photo of Silas and I. They resumed their friendship over a pile of cars and trucks back at Ashlee’s house a few minutes later, which is something I feel like we all could learn from. We had a lovely evening at the Tollett’s and am so thankful for the nice weather today!

Whitney’s maternity session

Yesterday Joni, Whitney and I drove over to Independence, Missouri to do Whit’s maternity photos at Cinton’s Soda Shop, a cute little place I found online to do indoor shots since it was going to be cold and windy! We walked around the square and found some darling places and some very kind business owners who let us into their warm restaurants to take some lovely photos.

Whitney’s mom is my mentor here in Kansas City, when we moved here and it was my first place to be without either my mom or mother-in-law I knew that I had to find an experienced mother to help me through these seasons of children and marriage. Joni is wonderful and her whole family is our support system since we’ve moved here to Missouri. We lived with her son for 2 months last summer, and Josh works for Joni’s brother and so we are this family’s third wheel… like it or not:) Whitney is due to have little Ruthy at the end of March and she’s guaranteed to be a beautiful baby girl!

When I was 12 I began to write an autobiography that i titled,

"Lauren Lee, a horse of a different color".
