Raider

A few weeks ago on my 33rd birthday I decided to go to Pet’s Plus to hold the puppies and consider if we were finally ready for the commitment of owning a dog after 5 years without them. I held the sweetest little poodle puppy and asked Josh if I could buy it. Luckily he held me back from it and we decided to discuss if we were ready for a puppy a little more before jumping in. My m.o. is to jump in right away on just about everything in life knowing that it will work out somehow. Josh is my brick wall. He helps me to slow down and reevaluate, which is GOOD!

After a few days of thinking about it I knew that I was not ready for a new puppy. I remembered the potty training, constant barking at night, chewing on everything and letting them out all night long to go to the bathroom. I still browsed cute pictures of dane puppies online though and came across rescue dogs on Craigslist. It reminded me that I have a cousin in law who runs a rescue in San Angelo names Cassie’s Place, so I reached out to her and told her that we were looking for a dog who wasn’t a puppy and was good with kids. She immediately shot back and told me she had a Dane mix. I corresponded back and forth with Jane the Dane’s foster home back and forth and then we decided we wanted her! We drove down to San Angelo Monday and picked her up and she has adjusted SO well! The boys love her, especially Silas, and I have loved having a Dane again. We’ve renamed her Raider and her adoption will be final next week!
